Coach Tommy Bull

Tommy Bull was introduced to the game of Lacrosse by West LA Lacrosse founder Mitch Fenton and John Crowthers, a 1961 Princeton Lacrosse graduate and uncle of the legendary Welles Crowthers, known as "The Man in the Red Bandana".  At the early age of nine, Tommy excelled in the sport and was invited to train with 3D So Cal under the guidance of Adam Sear (University of Maryland, Australian National Team, Michigan University Women’s Coach, University of Notre Dame women's Coach). The pioneering coaching program at 3D, led by coach Sear, instilled disciplined lacrosse fundamentals in Tommy from a very young age.

Tommy's natural ability and refined technique made him a sought-after player, leading to invitations to play with elite teams such as the Santa Monica Dragons, Team West Coast, Mad Dog West, the Mad Dog World Series team, So Cal Bulls, and West Coast Starz. As competition intensified, Tommy began playing regularly against the best teams on the East Coast. To keep up, he established a mentorship with DEFY coach and South Bay lacrosse legend Adam Dahms. Coach Dahms taught Tommy flawless shooting technique, and stick skills needed to compete against the nation's best defenders, all while preparing him for elite high school play. In 8th grade Tommy was invited by NLL defensemen, Cam Holding (San Diego Seals) to play for the newly formed “Junior Seals” Box lacrosse team. With the San Diego Seals, Tommy fined tuned the art of shot placement, passing in tight quarters, and heavy stick protection.

In 2020, Tommy entered La Costa Canyon High School (LCC) as a freshman and tried out for the Varsity Lacrosse team. LCC head Coach, Kevin Cooper recognized his potential and took him under his wing, preparing him to be a starting contributor on the Varsity squad from the outset. Coach Kevin taught Tommy the art of "action under pressure," complementing his already highly developed technique. Over the next four years at La Costa Canyon, with the help of Kevin Cooper and Ryan Simmons, grandson of legendary Syracuse coach Roy Simmons, Tommy learned the intricacies of the game. This preparation led Tommy to become a four-year starter, Graduating as the third all-time assist leader at La Costa Canyon. His time playing at La Costa Canyon helped him secure a college roster spot with Sacred Heart University (SHU), 2024 NCAA D1 tournament qualifier, and 2024 MACC champions.

As an active player on the attack unit at SHU, Tommy continues to push his skills to new levels under the mentorship of SHU offensive coordinator and Haudenosaunee National team offensive coordinator, coach Chris Doctor.

As a coach, Tommy Bull brings a large library of fundamentals, techniques, and drills he learned from the impressive list of coaches he’s worked with over his ten years of development. Tommy also brings his fun-loving personality to his coaching style, but with structured lesson plans, and attention to detail.

Testimonials

Mateo

Coach Tommy helped my son understand the importance of technique as the competition became much harder playing high level club. The post practice video review is helping him actually see the things he needs to improve on.
Terry Stanton

I highly recommend Tommy for supplemental training to club,  and high school lacrosse. His one on one technique coaching has helped push my son up the depth chart on both his club, and high school rosters.

Dennis White

Tommy has helped my son Kevin simplify his movement with the ball, and greatly improve his shooting technique. He has also helped him with his stick setup which is something we have never spent time fine tuning.

Carlos Cortes

With Lacrosse becoming so competitive in San Diego CIF sports, being athletic simply is not enough. We knew we needed to close the gap with technique in order to make Varsity. Coach Tommy's sessions greatly accelerated his progression, and gave my son a routine he can take home with him to practice.
